Matcha Latte w. Oat Milk & Honey

Hi everyone!

I have been on a food journey to less sugar and less dairy for some health reasons so let’s just say that I have had to get creative with finding alternatives to my usual drinks and treats!  I won’t get into to much detail about the specific health reasons but a lot of it also has to do with being a competitive athlete in the golf world and making sure I am prioritizing the health of my body to make sure that I am feeling as good as possible for my golf tournaments and busy training schedule!  After all, the fuel we put into our bodies is very reflective of how we are feeling on a day to day basis.

One of my guilty pleasures is the Sweet Cream Cold Brew from Starbucks and let me tell you, that thing is packed with sugar and dairy!  I would have one of those almost everyday and a weekly ice cream treat at the end of the week and I noticed that my anxiety levels started increasing and my energy started decreasing.

I have been without refined sugar and dairy for 2 months now and I feel so much better!

So, this brings me to the alternative that I found to replace my daily coffee from Starbucks!  MATCHA LATTE!  A matcha latte with a clean oat milk and a little bit of honey!  Honey is packed with so many benefits and is a great replacement for refined sugar!  The oat milk and honey par perfectly with the matcha, you can make this drink cold or hot!

Make sure you invest in a quality ceremonial grade matcha because this makes all the difference in the world when it comes to how smooth it taste!  My favourite brand for matcha powder is by Sloan Fine Tea Merchants.  It is smooth and has no bitter taste at all!

My three favourite Oat Milks are:

1. Suzie’s Oat Milk

2. Vege- All Oat Milk

3. Oatly Oat Milk

Recipe:

2/3 Cup of your preferred Oat Milk

1 tsp of Matcha Powder

1 tsp of Honey

– Poor your oat milk over ice

– Boil your water in a kettle

– Add your matcha and honey into a bowl and add 1/4 cup of boiling water and mix thoroughly

– Pour matcha mixture over your oat milk and enjoy!!

I have to give credit to my amazing local coffee shop “La Folle Table” who inspired this at home matcha latte!  They make an amazing matcha latte!
