SAVANNAH’S WEIGHT WATCHERS JOURNEY

I am sure most of you reading this post have heard of Weight Watchers over the years; if you don’t know what Weight Watchers is, it is a realistic and sustainable weight loss program.  As women it can be very challenging to figure out what food and how much food is best for your body in order to maintain a healthy and balanced weight.

After playing the highest level of competitive soccer for 18 or so years of my life, I struggled to find what was going to work best for my “new” lifestyle.  I am not going to lie, I had to eat a lot of food when I was playing soccer and I was able to eat what I wanted, when I wanted.  After finishing my soccer career and not training or exercising as much as I did, I did not realize that I should have adjusted my intake of food.  I transitioned into golf right after my soccer career ended so I was still active but we can all agree that you do not burn as many calories playing golf compared to playing soccer; they are two completely different sports.

So long story short, I gained some weight and before I knew it I was the heaviest I had ever been in my life.  I only realized how much my body had changed when I stepped on the scale and saw the number 151.  Now, I understand that 151 may not seem like a lot to some people but for my body, it was too much.  I did not feel good in my skin and I hadn’t in a while.  My mom was in the same boat as me so we decided, enough is enough… it is time to take control and prioritize our health.

At first we decided to try calorie counting but that did not work because there is a lot more that goes into calorie counting than people tell you.  It is not sustainable and it is a lot of work.  I then suggested that we try Weight Watchers because I had heard so many amazing things about the program.

We both filled out our questionnaire; I got put on the Green Program and my mom got put on the Purple Program.  It was the best decision we ever made!  We started in January and to date I have lost 27 lbs and my mom has lost 36 lbs.  I have reached my goal weight and I could not be happier!  I feel so much better; I feel light on my feet, I feel more energetic, I feel more confident.  It is not the number on the scale that matters most to me, it is the way I feel inside.  I am so proud of myself so taking control of my life and doing what is best for my body! It is so important to make your health a priority, I can’t stress that enough.

The first couple of weeks on the program was difficult, it was a huge adjustment.  After the adjustment period, it was smooth sailing!  I was still able to eat what I wanted, just in the right way.  I have now stabilized at 125 lbs and could not be happier!

I will leave it at that for now and I will post more about my journey in the next coming weeks!

Cheers,

Savannah
